DTEK started cooperation with the Poltava Technical University for training specialists for oil and gas industry
There will be three streams of cooperation between DTEK and Poltava NTU. First of all, the university will train young specialists. Students of the oil, gas, and natural resources management faculty of Poltava NTU will be given an opportunity to receive work experience at DTEK undertakings (Naftogazvydobuvannya and Naftogazrozrobka). The best students will receive offers of employment. The second stream will be dedicated to continued training of oil and gas personnel, and to organizing special courses for them. The third stream will include joint research and development efforts, implementation of science and technical projects and studies.
On 7 September, the university opened an education-and-research laboratory for oil and gas technologies created with the participation of DTEK and Geosynthesis Engineering. The laboratory was equipped with modern equipment and chemical reagents in compliance with API international standards. This laboratory will give the students an opportunity to get practical skills and conduct research on proportioning the tailored composition of materials for well-drilling.

At the same time, the industry’s need for new technologies, scientific approaches, and best specialists is growing from year to year. And it is the issues that academics and lecturers of the oil, gas, and natural resources management faculty of Poltava NTU are dealing with. Our university is ready to train highly-qualified specialists in cooperation with companies operating in the industry. Our cooperation with DTEK Group provides a good example of joint efforts combined by research and educational institutions and business aimed at strengthening the country’s energy security,” emphasized Volodymyr Onyshchenko, the rector of Yuriy Kondratyuk Poltava National Technical University.
“This year, a work placement was arranged for the first time for the students of Poltava NTU at Naftogazvydobuvannya, who demonstrated remarkable skills. We will be able to offer employment to several graduates already next year. I am confident that this partnership will promote further adaptation of training programs to the modern requirements and will take to a new level research and development efforts that make an integral part of the successful development of oil and gas industry,” commented Igor Shchurov, DTEK Oil&Gas CEO.
Poltava NTU is the second of the universities that established partnership with DTEK in training professionals for the oil and gas industry. Last year, cooperation was launched with Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas.
