DTEK Oil&Gas completes drilling of well No. 61 at Semerenkivske License Area The 5605 m deep directional well with 380 m reach was drilled for purpose of supplementary exploration of the marginal part of the field. The well target is being tested in order to select the best production mode and to prepare for commissioning into production. High commercial flow rate of hydrocarbons was obtained.

The well was drilled by Belorusneft using a Drillmec 1500 HP drilling rig manufactured in 2014. The bit program, BHA, mud motors and other auxiliary tools were provided by NOV. Directional drilling support services were provided by Schlumberger with application of rotary steerable systems. The well was cased across the pay formations without cementing, with the use of oil-swellable packers, to eliminate the cement impact on reservoirs.

The productive section composed of dense fractured sandstones was drilled in with the use of formation-friendly oil-based invert emulsion provided by Geosintez-Engineering. The drilling was carried out without cuttings pits, with complete disposal of drilling wastes in accordance with the best International environmental practices in the industry.

Igor Schurov, DTEK Oil&Gas CEO: “Our Company operated at great depths and in challenging geological environments, therefore we make every decision with the focus on the maximum result. For this purpose, we invest in innovations, utilize modern equipment and cooperate with leading International companies. This approach allowed us to complete the drilling of well No. 61 one month ahead of schedule with execution of a suite of high-tech studies and works aimed at efficient development of the reservoir potential.”
