The well will be directionally drilled, and its depth will reach 5,628 meters. At the same time, drilling, surveying, and testing operations are expected to be completed in a rather short time, under 160 days.

The drilling will be performed by an upgraded drilling rig fitted with a top drive, 1,300 hp drilling pumps and four-stage cleaning system. The new-generation drilling bits that demonstrated excellent performance by stability and mechanical speed and clayless drilling mud that proved remarkably effective in other projects developed by the company will be engaged in this project as well.

A pit-free drilling method that implies that no waste will be placed at the job site will be used to drill a well no. 34. As a result, this project’s environmental component complies with the best international standards.

“When drilling the well, we will use the latest geological and technical solutions allowing reducing a risk of drilling troubles, improving the quality of construction works, and ensuring more efficient utilization of the deposit’s natural potential. As early as this summer, we plan to extract the first gas from this well, which gives a reason to expect that in 2017 gas extraction will gain momentum. At the same time, market trends and the regulatory and investment environment remain the key factors that will shape our development,” summarised Igor Shchurov, CEO of DTEK Oil&Gas.
